What is IFM?

"IFM really improves the image of farming. Better consumer awareness will really give us a chance to progress."

What is Integrated Farm Management?

Commonsense Farming

Everyone wants a countryside that thrives. A countryside that is alive with wildlife, supports viable farming businesses and produces wholesome, affordable food. Integrated Farm Management (IFM) is an approach that provides just this. It combines the best of traditional farming methods with modern technology, allowing farmers to manage their farms in an informed, professional and caring way.

Traditional farming methods include crop rotations and modern methods would be combining this with pesticides and fertilisers only when absolutely necessary to keep animals and crops healthy.  IFM ensures the highest standards of food production with the minimum environmenal impact, a 'win win' situation.

Policy

"A whole farm policy providing the basis for efficient and profitable production which is economically viable and environmentally responsible. IFM integrates beneficial natural processes into modern farming practices using advanced technology. It aims to minimise environmental risks while conserving, enhancing and recreating that which is of environmental importance."
