How LEAF is run

LEAF was founded in 1991 and became a registered charity in 1995 (number 1045781). LEAF is also a company limited by guarantee registered in England (number 3035047), and the registered office is at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, CV8 2LG LEAF Marque is a wholly owned subsidiary of LEAF incorporated in 2002.

Support for LEAF is through membership: farmers, Colleges & Universities, friends and Corporate Companies. We receive additional support through sponsorship and project work.

LEAF benefits from a significant voluntary contribution from the network of LEAF Demonstration Farmers, Innovation Centres and Supporters, the many farmers and helpers involved in Open Farm Sunday and from representation on the main management committees of LEAF: the LEAF Board, Policy and Strategic Development Committee, LEAF IFM Consultative Forum, Technical Committee and Communications Committee as well as additional committees supporting LEAF Marque.

The governing documents are the Memorandum and Articles of Association and membership rules.

The trustees are the Board of Directors of the Charity. They are principally responsible for the governance of the Charity. The LEAF Board meets at six times a year and is made up of the Chairman: Stephen Fell and eight other Board members who are representatives from the food, farming and environment industry and our members.

Baroness Byford is the LEAF President and once a year we hold the Presidents Event, where our members come together to discuss LEAF’s work and meet with key representatives in the industry.

LEAF is based at its office in Stoneleigh Park with a committed team, directed by its Chief Executive Caroline Drummond.

LEAF works with farmers and organisations from around the world and is a founding member of the European Initiative for Sustainable Development in Agriculture (EISA).
